Camper planners compared
Every planner shows what your van could look like. Here you see what each one actually calculates, where it runs and what you start with. One difference is worth knowing first, because it explains the rest.
The difference in one sentence
Every planner asks what your van should look like. VanLogic also asks what that weighs and where it lands on the axles. You do not draw a weight and you do not estimate one: you give a piece of furniture a shape, dimensions, a material and a build method — the weight follows from that. Change the build method from a box to a frame with panelling, and payload, axle loads and centre of gravity move with it while you plan.
49
materials with a stored density
177
components with real dimensions and weight
8
build methods, each with its own weight formula
226 catalogue entries in total, in 14 categories from kitchen to electrics, plus 12 insulation materials with their own density. Densities and weights come from manufacturer and retailer data; the build methods calculate areas and volumes from your dimensions – no flat rates per furniture type.
What do you want to do?
I want to know whether my build is road-legal.
Weight, axle loads, centre of gravity and tipping risk update live, plus the remaining payload required by DIN EN 1646-2 and the water tank full versus empty. At the end you get a PDF report for the inspection. Every piece of furniture gets a material and a build method – the app calculates the weight itself.
VanLogic
I want furniture that really fits the van – and to know what it weighs.
With free-form you draw the real outline, lean walls against the body, round off corners and cut out the wheel arch or pipes. Add drawers and doors per edge, and leave out panels you don't build. Eight build methods calculate the weight from exactly this shape; the collision check knows wheel arches, sliding door and roof slope and suggests the matching cut-out or lean right away. Examples with figures: Furniture building with VanLogic.
VanLogic
I don't want to start with an empty van.
Eight complete build templates from a weekend basic build to a full-time layout, and 31 ready-made assemblies for bed, kitchen, seating and bathroom – every part with material and build method, weight and axle loads appear immediately. The furniture adapts to the vehicle: the bed sits over the wheel arch, whether short or long wheelbase. Every template is checked automatically against every vehicle it is offered for. Rotate and scale assemblies, and save your own as templates.
VanLogic
I want to plan electrics, insulation and water right away.
Batteries from 100 to 300 Ah, inverters up to 3000 W, DC-DC chargers, solar charge controllers, rigid and flexible solar panels and cable by cross-section per metre – all with real weight and size, in the plan or just in the balance. Twelve insulation materials with their own density, as area times thickness. Fresh and grey water tank full versus empty. So every kilo lands where it sits in the van.
VanLogic
I want to plan on a big screen.
Studio is VanLogic for mouse, keyboard and a big screen: realistic 3D with light and shadows, eye-level view standing or sitting, top and rear view side by side, an inspector for exact sizes, and the distance to any other object measured and typed in. One purchase covers the app and up to three browsers, and your plan from the app comes along.
VanLogic Studio
I want to know how much payload I must keep free.
A motorhome must keep payload free for people and luggage: 75 kg per passenger plus 10 kg times the sum of seats and vehicle length in metres, according to DIN EN 1646-2. VanLogic includes this and deducts it from your payload – that is the figure that decides the inspection in the end.
VanLogic
I plan on the go, on my phone, often without signal.
A real app for iOS and Android that calculates offline and keeps the data on the device. No account, no cloud requirement. Projects move as a file between phone, tablet and computer.
VanLogic
I just want to put together a layout from shop products quickly.
If weight and axle loads don't matter and you want to order straight away, a planner linked to a shop is enough.
Plan your Van
One case points to someone else – where it really is only about clicking something together quickly.

On a phone the table can be scrolled sideways.
As of 21 October 2026, checked on the providers' websites. “—” means: not stated there. PlanMyCamper has not been a planner since 2026, but a guide with calculators – so it is no longer in the table. We leave prices out: they change more often than the features.
You do not have to take our word for it
The same formulas that run inside the app are openly available here in your browser — no account, no installation, nothing to download. If a comparison claims numbers, you should be able to check them.
And for all 44 vehicles: dimensions, axle loads and what remains for the conversion once the legally required remaining payload is deducted.
And in the app: the test environment
All planning features can be tried first – the build templates, all build methods, assemblies, free-form, cut-outs, 3D. In the app with no time limit, in the browser 30 minutes per plan. You only decide afterwards whether it is worth it to you.
Your projects are yours
Every project can be exported as a file and imported again – no account, no provider in between. The same file works on Android, iPhone and in the browser. With Pro you unlock up to three browsers, and your plan from the app comes along.
